Happy Memorial Day

Our weekend was full of adventures! After we said goodbye to Mike and Sherilyn, we went to Umstead State Park and did a little canoeing, fishing and hiking. Then we went and played tennis and the kids rode their scooters.

The boys playing tennis:)

Chris learned that the #1 beach in the USA (Yes, that's right, #1-and #4 in the world) is just hours from our house and we decided we needed to check it out for ourselves. Our verdict is that this beach is as good as it gets! Ocracoke island on the Outer Banks is where this beach is located and if you wanted to visit us before, well, maybe this will actually get you to book that vacation!

First stop on our drive, the Bodie lighthouse built in the mid 1800's.
Mason lost his first tooth during our lunch break. No drama here, the tooth just popped out while eating an apple! Which reminds me, the tooth fairy is supposed to visit tonight.

We rode the ferry in between Hatteras and Ocracoke. The island has 3 different ferry's transporting people to and from. This was the shortest ferry ride, plus it was free!

Here is just one of the beach pictures that I will post more of tomorrow...it is late and I am ready for some sleep!
