Rockin' and Rollin'

Derek rolled over this week! He won't stay on his back anymore and doesn't like being on his tummy for very long.

He started eating his solids too which he really enjoys. Sadie and Mason can hardly carry him around anymore as his weight is a little daunting for them. He had his 6 month celebration yesterday, complete with prunes to eat!

The kids and I explored the Natural Science Museum in downtown Raleigh a couple of weekends ago. We enjoyed it so much, we had to go back with Chris. When we went back, they were doing "Astronomy Days". The kids made their own rockets out of 2 liter bottles, birthday hats and paper wings. Once the rockets were made, they went outside to launch them. The rockets were put on air compressors and when the kids pulled the string, their rocket would go flying into the air. They thought that was the greatest thing. They also got to make "craters" in swiss miss cocoa by throwing a golf ball into a big vat of dry cocoa. Mason wanted to do that over and over. Sadie's favorite part of the museum is the butterfly room. They have live butterflies that you can watch fly around. She would love to have one land on her, but hasn't been that lucky yet. There is also a discovery room and the costumes were a hit. We will definitely be returning.

Chris and I have taken to finding fun places to eat recently. This area has many, many places for our taste palettes to explore. We have tried several pizza joints which have all been very tasty. So with it being my birthday this week we thought we would splurge a little bit and chose a higher end establishment. We went to Saffron for Indian food. What we were impressed with the most was the wait staff. Our water glasses would be refilled when they were only half way gone without a sound from the waiter. (needless to say we both had to use the restroom afterwards) They were very attentive to what we needed and the food was wonderful. There are many more places to go, one being a burger joint that we need to be really hungry for, or so we've heard.

This week was a little crazy with our house hunting exploration. We found a home we liked, looked at it one day, called to go back to take a second look the next day and found out it had sold overnight! How frustrating. We are waiting for more homes to come on the market. I think we have seen everything there is to see at the moment. I am finding that being patient is not a strong quality at the moment!

Sadie and Mason have gotten a kick out of sledding down the dirt hill in our complex. This is a daily after school activity for them. Here is Sadie with her friend Rose.

This kids have taken to making home movies for themselves. Here is one of Mason that Sadie made while we were having a jam session:

You are such a great mom Katie. I love that you do so many creative things with your children. Chris and I love Indian Food. We have a great little hole in the wall place here that we have found and the wait staff there is equally attentive.

And I love the sledding down the dirt hill. Who needs snow?
