There is a park in Northern Virginia called Great Falls. This falls is right on the Potomac river and apparently has quite a history. George Washington himself and many others were very keen to make the Potomac a gateway to the west for trade and commerce and attempts were made to create locks around the falls. Most of the early ones failed and it was turned into a nice park for all to enjoy. We spent part of our fourth of july there, hiking around and enjoying the view. It was really hot but the kids loved it anyway. They especially like climbing around on all the rocks! They are like little monkeys!
